Yellow lines show where there are parking restrictions.

Waiting or parking on yellow lines

Double yellow lines

No parking is allowed at any time 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Single yellow line

No parking is allowed from:
  • Monday to Friday 7am - 7pm
  • Saturday 7am - 11am (excluding Bank and Public Holidays)
  • If different times apply a plate will display the controlled parking hours for that specific location
  • Once the controlled hours have ended you are allowed to park on a single yellow line EXCEPT at dropped kerbs/raised carriageways and footways

Permitted loading and unloading

Yellow lines no kerb marks 

You can load and unload on single and double yellow lines for a maximum of 40 minutes
Monday to Friday 7am - 7pm
Saturday 7am - 11am
If your commercial operation cannot comply with these limits you need to apply for a dispensation permit.
Outside these periods you can load and unload for an unlimited period on single yellow lines but you must not stop at a dropped kerb or a raised carriageway otherwise you may be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN  - parking ticket).
Loading and unloading must be a continuous activity otherwise you may be issued with a PCN.

Loading restrictions

Loading and unloading is not allowed at any time 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Yellow lines single kerb mark

Loading and unloading is allowed for a period less than 24 hour a day.  The restrictions are displayed on black and white time plates. 

Picking up or setting down passengers

Single or double yellow lines

You may stop briefly to pick up and set down passengers from single or double yellow lines.  If there are no kerb markings our officers will watch your vehicle for five minutes to look for this or any loading activity. 
If there are kerb markings then they will watch your vehicle for one - two minutes only and will issue a PCN if they do not see any activity.  This restriction is also enforced via CCTV.
